Uganda Compact

After breakfast, the journey continues towards Fort Portal in western Uganda. You drive on well-maintained roads through the evergreen, hilly landscape with its impressive tea plantations. In the early afternoon, after a few stops  you will reach the center of the Toro Kingdom, the small town of Fort Portal. Here you have the opportunity to visit the market for the first time and take a break in one of the small cafés. Then continue to your lodge in the Kibale Forest.

Today you will visit the chimpanzees in the rainforest. Follow the tracks of the primates in the jungle with an experienced guide. Soon, with a bit of luck, you will reach the first animals, observe their way of life and have the opportunity to take photos. You will be back at the lodge around midday, after lunch you will set off on your journey towards Queen Elisabeth National Park.

Today there is a morning game drive in Queen Elisabeth National Park. The park offers everything that makes up the African animal world.  A large number of lions, buffaloes, hyenas and also the Kobe antelope, which is native to Uganda, live here. Your driver knows the best places and will show you the animals and answer your questions. After lunch, you will go on a boat safari on the  Kazinga Canal, which  connects the two lakes, Lake Edward and Lake George. Crocodiles and hippos live in the canal, while buffalo, elephants and impressive birdlife can be found on its banks.

Today the journey continues south, reaching the  Ishasha area in the late morning. The famous tree lions live here and you and your driver go in search of these extraordinary animals. You then continue to Bwindi Impenatrable National Park, home to the mountain gorillas

Bwindi Impenatrable NP is home to around 500 mountain gorillas, half of the world’s remaining population.  The primates belong to the endangered animal species despite the number of 1,100 that have now been recorded. Tourism has contributed significantly to the fact that the animals are no longer persecuted by the local population but are protected. After a short briefing, you hike into the densely forested jungle with an experienced guide, a ranger and a few porters. Your guide will show you the  tracks of the animals, answer your questions about the vegetation and soon you will be up close to the mighty animals. You have one hour to follow the primates, observe them and take photos. In the afternoon you are back at your lodge and have time to relax and reflect on the day’s experiences.

Today we head towards Lake Mburo National Park. Along the winding roads, you will always have the opportunity to enjoy the view of Lake Bunyonyi.  After your arrival in the park, you will go on a game drive in Uganda’s second smallest national park. Giraffes, zebras, many species of antelope and warthogs live here.

It is possible to go on a walking safari in Lake Mburo National Park. Together with an armed ranger, you set off to observe the animals at close range. Your guide will show you the tracks of the animals and explain their way of life.   After 2-3 hours you return to the lodge and after lunch you start your return journey to Entebbe. At the equator you have the opportunity to take a few souvenir photos before you reach your guesthouse in Entebbe in the evening.

On the last day, depending on the time of your return flight, you can visit the Botanical Gardens in Entebbe before your driver takes you to the airport in time for your departure flight . You can then fly home or start a connecting trip, e.g. to Zanzibar.
