Location: Castle Forest Lodge is located deep in the dense forest on the slopes in the south of Mount Kenya. It is nestled in a natural environment of rainforest, freshwater rivers with waterfalls, a fabulous view of the valley on one side of the lodge and the impressive peaks of Mount Kenya on the other.  The main house was built in 1910 using river stones and wood from the surrounding forests and rivers. It is said that both Queen Elizabeth and President Jomo Kenyatta visited Castle Forest Lodge when they were still students. Castle Forest Lodge was renovated in 2000 and can now accommodate just over thirty guests.  Accommodation: Each hut has its own theme, its own shower and toilet and a fireplace where a fire is lit at night. 8 cottages are round cabins for one or two people with one double or two single beds. There are 3 bungalows, each with 2 bedrooms, a living room with a fireplace and a veranda with a view of the fields, the forest and the valley in the distance. Each bungalow has a shower and toilet. There are two standard bungalows, which are kept in the original style. And a “luxury” bungalow recently renovated, which is a more spacious and has a hammock. Chalet are two beautiful detached chalets available. Each with plenty of space, a fully equipped kitchen, a large living room and a magnificent view of Mount Kenya Chalet Montane A beautiful cottage that can accommodate 4 people. There is plenty of space for additional beds or mattresses. Chalet Telluride is a spacious chalet with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Budget rooms are three rooms in the main house, which was built in 1910, one double room and two twin rooms. They share a shower and toilet and are located above the kitchen, bar and restaurant. The restaurant: In the main building we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner at fixed times with a daily changing menu. Snacks are available throughout the day, as are drinks from our well-stocked bar. There is a charming little living room with a crackling fireplace where you are welcome to spend the rainy days. Our veranda, surrounded by the mystique of the indigenous rainforest, is the ideal place to relax and unwind in the sunshine.
