Visa and vaccination requirements

Visa

When entering Uganda, you must be in possession of a passport that is valid for 6 months beyond the duration of your trip. You also need a visa, which you must apply for online at https://visas.immigration.go.ug/. The visa fee is $50 and must be paid by credit card during the online application process.

Children’s entries in a parent’s passport are not recognized; each child requires its own identity document.

Vaccinations

When entering Uganda, proof of a yellow fever vaccination is required. The Federal Foreign Office also recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults when traveling. For adults, this includes vaccinations against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), polio (polio), mumps, measles, rubella (MMR) and influenza. Hepatitis A and typhoid are recommended as travel vaccinations, and hepatitis B, rabies and meningococcal disease (ACWY) are also recommended for long-term stays or special exposure.

Entry requirements Tanzania and Zanzibar

Visa and vaccination requirements

Visa

When entering Tanzania, you must be in possession of a passport that is valid for 6 months beyond the duration of your trip. You also need a visa, which you can apply for online at https://eservices.immigration.go.tz/visa/start. The visa fee is $50 and must be paid by credit card during the online application process.

Alternatively, it is still possible to obtain the visa directly on arrival at the airport where you are entering the country.

Children’s entries in a parent’s passport are not recognized, each child needs their own identity document

Vaccinations

When entering Tanzania, no proof of yellow fever vaccination is required if you are entering directly from Europe. If you have spent more than 12 hours in a yellow fever area before entering Tanzania, you will need a yellow fever vaccination certificate to enter Tanzania. The Federal Foreign Office also recommends checking the standard vaccinations according to the current vaccination calendar of the Robert Koch Institute for children and adults when traveling. For adults, this includes vaccinations against tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (whooping cough), polio (polio), mumps, measles, rubella (MMR) and influenza. Visa

When entering Rwanda, you must be in possession of a passport that is valid for 6 months beyond the duration of your trip. You also need a visa, which you can apply for online at https://www.migration.gov.rw/our-services/visa/. The visa fee is $50 for a single entry and must be paid by credit card during the online application process. For travelers who also want to visit Uganda and/or Kenya, there is an East Africa visa at a price of USD 100 (the East Africa visa is not valid for Tanzania).

Alternatively, it is still possible to obtain the visa directly on arrival at the airport where you are entering the country.
