Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport – drive to Chanya Lodge in Moshi
Day 2: Moshi – Lake Manyara
In the morning, you will set off towards Arusha. If the weather is good, you can catch a glimpse of Africa’s highest mountain, Mount Kilimanjaro, on the way. After passing Arusha, the journey continues to the East African Rift Valley. From one of the viewpoints, you can look into Lake Manyara National Park. Look out for the monkeys and elephants that live there, which you can spot among the trees. It is also home to large herds of buffalo, zebras, wildebeest and giraffes. The marshy salt lake is also famous for water birds such as flamingos, pelicans and cormorants.
Day 3: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
After the first night in a tented lodge, the journey continues towards the Serengeti. You pass the Ngorongoro Conservation Area with its varied vegetation, the small hills, extinct volcanoes and the legendary primeval forests give you a first impression of the diversity of Tanzania. Before we reach Nabi Gate, the entrance to the Serengeti, around midday, we see the first wildebeests and zebras and, with a bit of luck, lions and elephants. In the afternoon there is time for a first game drive in the Serengeti.
Day 4: Serengeti National Park game drive
This morning, after a night in the center of the Serengeti, the “Seronera Valley”, you will set off on a full-day game drive in the Serengeti. Your driver knows the best places to spot antelopes, reedbucks and baboons. The hippo pool with the gigantic hippos resting on acacia trees Leopards and lions are of course not to be missed either
Day 5: Serengeti game drive – Ngorongoro Crater
Early risers have the option of an early morning game drive today. A cup of coffee and a small snack and you’re ready to go. With the first rays of sunshine you have the best light for your photos. At this time of day there is a good chance of seeing hyenas, hippos or a pride of lions having breakfast. Sunrise in the savannah landscape and the clear air are an unforgettable experience. Back at the lodge, you will have brunch and then go on another game drive towards the Ngorongoro Crater.
Day 6: Ngorongoro Crater game drive – Tarangire National Park
After a quiet night on the crater rim, we set off today on an extraordinary game drive in the Ngorongoro Crater. The crater has an extension of about 20 kilometers and an animal density that is nowhere higher than here. The crater is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is home to most species of East African wildlife. For example, the endangered black rhino, which is a member of the “Big Five” alongside the buffalo, lion, elephant and leopard! After exciting hours with fantastic game viewing, we continue to Tarangire National Park in the afternoon.
Day 7: Tarangire National Park Game Drive – Kilimanjaro Airport (JRO)
A huge number of elephants live here in Tarangire National Park. The Tarangire River is the lifeline for the animals and the entire park. In addition to elephants, there are also lions, various species of antelope and giraffes. The hilly savannah landscape with its huge baobab trees and swamps characterize the park. Enjoy another morning game drive in the vastness before continuing on to Zanzibar. The driver will say goodbye to you at Kilimajaro Airport and the transfer driver will be waiting for you in Zanzibar to take you to your hotel.
