Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival day, Nairobi Airport (NBO) Kenya
Day 2: Nairobi – Massai Mara National Park
After breakfast, you leave Nairobi in a westerly direction. After a 6-hour drive you will reach the Maasai Mara. Alternatively, a domestic flight from Nairobi to the national park can be booked for an additional charge. Around midday, take a break at the Rift Valley viewpoint and enjoy the impressive landscape. You will reach your lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 3: Massai Mara National Park
Today we go on a full day game drive in the Massai Mara National Park. The park is part of an overall conservation area and is adjacent to the north of the Serengeti. Lions, elephants, leopards, zebras, giraffes and the large herds of wildebeest and zebras can be seen here, especially from July to September. The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s richest wildlife reserve. After returning to the lodge in the afternoon, enjoy the pool and the view over the savannah.
Day 4: Massai Mara National Park
Today we go on a full day game drive in the Massai Mara National Park. The park is part of an overall conservation area and is adjacent to the north of the Serengeti. Lions, elephants, leopards, zebras, giraffes and the large herds of wildebeest and zebras can be seen here, especially from July to September. The Maasai Mara is Kenya’s richest wildlife reserve. After returning to the lodge in the afternoon, enjoy the pool and the view over the savannah.
Day 5: Massai Mara – Serengeti National Park
Today, after breakfast, we continue towards Tanzania and the Serengeti. On the way you will still have the opportunity to observe the animals and take photos. You reach the Tanzanian border around midday. After the formalities have been completed, we continue with our Tanzanian team. You will get your first impressions of the country and reach your lodge on the edge of the Serengeti in the afternoon.
Day 6: Serengeti National Park
Today we head to the center of the Serenget, the Seronera region. Before you set off you will be served a hearty breakfast and can enjoy the fascinating expanse of the Serengeti from your terrace. The journey takes you through savannah landscapes with hills and a few watercourses . Elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, lions, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, zebras, wildebeests and a variety of antelope species live in the Serengeti all year round. The guide will explain the diversity of the animal world to you. Enjoy your time in this unique animal paradise.
Day 7: Serengeti National Park
Today we go on an early morning game drive. After a coffee and a small snack, you set off into the park. The first rays of sunshine cast long shadows. It’s the best time for good photos! You can often see lions having breakfast and watch the hyenas and jackals trying to get a piece. Near the waterhole, colorful birds glisten in the sunlight. They also like to sit on the backs of buffaloes and elephants – letting themselves be carried as far as the journey takes them. Back at the lodge we have brunch and another game drive in the afternoon.
Day 8: Serengeti National Park – Lake Victoria
Today we continue to Mwanza, our last stop in Tanzania. After breakfast you start through the west of the Serengeti, the remote area with very beautiful scenery, where you will find large herds of animals as far as the eye can see, depending on the season . With a bit of luck, you may also encounter the rare wild dogs here. Around midday you leave the Serengeti and the journey continues through some small villages, past meadows and fields until you reach your destination for the day, your hotel in Mwanza on Lake Victoria, in the afternoon.
Day 9: Mwanza – Lake Mburo National Park
Today the driver will take you to the airport in Mwanza and from there you will take a 30-minute flight over Lake Victoria to Bukoba. There you will be met by our Ugandan driver/guide and continue to the border with Uganda. After completing the formalities, you will travel through the green, hilly landscape of southern Uganda to Lake Mburo, which you will reach in the afternoon.
Day 10: Lake Mburo National Park – Walking Safari – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
In Lake Mburo National Park, you have the opportunity to take part in a walking safari. In the early morning, you start your exploration tour into the national park together with an experienced ranger, who will show you footprints and animal droppings and explain which animals are nearby. It is particularly exciting to see the wild animals up close. After lunch, the tour continues towards Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you will reach your lodge in the late afternoon.
Day 11: Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, gorilla tracking
Today you have the opportunity to go gorilla tracking. Here in Bwindi Impenatrable NP, the gorillas and chimpanzees have their common habitat – nowhere else will you find both primate species so close together. After a briefing by the rangers at the entrance to the national park, you start your hike in the rainforest. To begin with, you will walk with your guide and a ranger on a well-maintained hiking trail slightly uphill into the park. On the way, the guide will answer your questions about the impressive vegetation of the rainforest and the way of life of the primates. Depending on the location of “your” gorilla family, you then head off the beaten track and cross-country through the bush. The ranger leads the way, you follow him and then suddenly you are standing in front of the gorilla family. You have 1 hour to observe and photograph the animals before heading back. Alternatively, you have the option of going on a hike in the surrounding area or visiting a Batwa community. But you will certainly regret it if you don’t visit the gorillas.
