Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport – drive to Chanya Lodge in Moshi
Day 2: Excursion to the Maasai
Your Tanzania trip begins with an excursion to Olpopongi, the only authentic Masai village in Tanzania. Here you will experience how people live and gain an insight into the culture of the Maasai. Various guides take you through the Masai Museum and explain the norms and values that apply, how the hierarchies work, which objects are used in traditional ceremonies and which clothing corresponds to the ideal of beauty. After a traditional tea-drinking session in an original Masai hut, you will be given lots of information about the various plant species and their healing properties on a bush walk.
Day 3: Tour to the Wachagga
Accompanied by your guide, you will drive to Marangu at the foot of Kilimanjaro. Once there, you set off on a short hike through the green landscape. The trail leads past small streams and you soon reach your first destination, the Ndoro waterfall. Enjoy the view, take your photos and then your guide will take you to a traditional Chagga house built from banana leaves. Here you can see how simply the Wachagga lived until a few decades ago. The tour then continues to the market, where craftsmen forge cowbells, knives and arrows and you can experience how they are made using the simple tools of ancient craftsmanship. We return to the hotel with many new impressions.
Day 4: Safari in Arusha National Park
This morning you set off on your first safari. The driver will pick you up at your hotel after breakfast and head towards Arusha. After about an hour you reach the national park at the foot of Mount Meru. You will see zebras, buffaloes and giraffes, the colobus monkey can be found in the dense bushes of the Ngurdoto Crater and countless flamingos live on the shores of the Momella Lakes. In the evening you will continue to your lodge.
Day 5: Sarfari in Tarangire National Park
Today we head towards Tarangire National Park. Many elephants live here, as well as lions, zebras and giraffes. The park is named after the river of the same name, which is the only source of water for the wild animals in the dry season. The long park with its varied landscape alternates between hills, savannah and swamps, and the huge baobab trees are particularly striking.
Day 6: Drive to the Ngorongoro Crater
An impressive drive to the Ngorongoro Crater rim at an altitude of around 2300 meters lies ahead of you. Steadily up the East African Rift Valley.

Day 7: Karatu – Relaxation at the lodge
Today you have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful lodge to the full or to explore the surroundings of the lodge. The climate is pleasant for walks. Every now and then baboons can be seen along the border to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Day 8: Transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport and flight to Zanzibar
Today our driver will take you to Kilimanjaro Airport, from where you will fly to Zanzibar. On arrival in Zanzibar you will be picked up and driven to the east coast. The beach hotel “The Loop” is located about 50 km east of Stone Town.
Days 9 – 15: Lodge stay on the dream beach of Zanzibar
You will spend the next few days at the hotel with its central pool and powder-fine sandy beach. Perfect for unwinding and taking a break from everyday life. Various excursions can be booked for an additional charge.
Day 16: Return transfer from your lodge to Zanzibar airport
Today the driver will take you back to Zanzibar airport
